Gen Z in 2024 and Beyond – What is all the fuss about?

Most of us have seen funny memes and videos regarding the Gen Z generation and why they are seen as the worst hires. Known as the most entitled generation in history, let’s see what companies say about this phenomenon. According to Forbes, 45% of Hiring Managers say they are the worst to manage. One business owner described them as “the laziest generation. They don’t want to work. From absolutely not wanting to do more than what is in their job description to being fired and the individual’s daddy calling the boss to get their job back, this is an absolute nightmare.” Another well-known businesswoman states, “They are on social media all day. ” As one CEO stated, “You can’t build a legacy and be lazy simultaneously.” This might sound very harsh. However, not all individuals in the Gen Z generation are like this.   So, Who is the Gen Z Generation, and Why are They Being Vilified? Generation Z was born between the mid-1990s and early 2000s and is the first generation to have grown up in the digital age. They rely on and are committed to digital fluency, have an entrepreneurial mindset and are deeply committed to social justice and inclusion.   Also Read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Z   How Can We Overcome The Stigma Hanging Over These Young Employees’ Heads? They will bring both enthusiasm and significant challenges to the workplace.   Challenges Encountered By Employers When Integrating Gen Zers into Theri Current Workforce
  1. They have no respect for company policies.
According to employers, this generation will always advocate for themselves, even at the expense of established rules and policies.
  1. Communication preferences.
They favour digital communication platforms, which may create miscommunication between older generations who prefer older means of interaction.
  1. Career advancement and job security.
With a strong desire for career growth and development, Gen Z easily becomes frustrated if they experience limited career development opportunities in the workplace.
  1. Mental health awareness.
Mental health is a huge concern in modern work environments. Due to sedentary lifestyles and increased technology reliance, workers may also experience physical health issues.
  1. Immediate gratification vs perseverance.
They are focused on career progression, and they want it now.
  1. Technology adaptation challenges and dependency.
Gen Z’s reliance on technology can challenge adaptation to environments with limited technology or systems.
  1. Balancing Ambition with realistic expectations.
Many Gen Z’s are ambitious individuals who set high goals for themselves.  The reality of entry-level positions and the time it takes to climb the corporate ladder can lead to frustration and disillusionment if not managed effectively.
  1. Desire for purpose-driven work.
The company’s values must align with those of the organisation, not vice versa.   Also read: Career Goals: 5 Tips To Keeping Up With Your New Year’s Resolutions   What are the Pros of Including These Young People in the Workforce?

They view problems differently and offer different ways of tackling the problem head-on.
  1. They are social media fundies.
Because they were exposed to social media early on, they can identify trends that will refresh any marketing campaign or bring new life to a medieval brand.
  1. They are challenge-driven.
Gen Z loves a good challenge. They also expect to be paid well for their ideas.
  1. They are not afraid to speak their minds.
Be prepared to receive constructive and, most often, critical feedback regarding your brand.   Companies must realistically include this generation in their workforce. Although there are many negative perceptions of Gen Z, businesses can reap significant benefits from including these individuals on their teams.   #GenZ #generationz#cvwritingservicessouthafrica#cvwriting #cvwritingservice #sacvwriting #professionalcvwritersinsouthafrica
