Time Management in 2025 – Embracing each Second for Purposeful Living

Time is one of the most precious resources we possess, yet it is often taken for granted. Yesterday at church, our Pastor delivered a powerful message that resonated deeply with me: every human being has 86,400 seconds in a day. Once those seconds are spent, there’s no reclaiming them—no second chances to redo moments that were squandered or not fully appreciated.   So, how are you using your time?   Cherishing Personal Time Personal time is essential for maintaining balance and fulfilment in life. It’s crucial to carve out moments just for yourself to recharge, reflect, and reconnect with your passions. Whether it’s reading a book that inspires you or taking a walk in nature, these activities enrich your spirit and enhance overall well-being. Consider how you spend your leisure time as well. Are you consuming content that uplifts you or engaging in activities that drain your energy? Choose wisely! Most importantly, make it a habit to spend time with Jesus and His Word. These moments of connection can provide clarity and purpose in how you navigate your day-to-day life.   Also read: https://sacvwriting.co.za/finding-work-is-a-full-time-job-8-tips/   Time to Nurture Family Bonds Family is often where we feel the most joy.  The way we use our time within our families can shape our relationships profoundly. Instead of allowing screens or distractions to dominate family interactions, strive for quality moments together. Set aside dedicated family time each week where everyone puts away their devices—perhaps a game night or cooking together in the kitchen. These simple acts create lasting memories and strengthen bonds among family members. Don’t underestimate the power of one-on-one conversations with each family member. Listening to their thoughts and feelings fosters trust and understanding while ensuring they feel valued.   Investing Time in Business In the fast-paced world of business, it can be easy to lose sight of what truly matters while getting caught up in the daily grind. Every moment spent at work should align with our values and goals. Consider implementing time management techniques that allow you to focus on high-impact activities. For instance, prioritise tasks that drive growth and innovation rather than getting bogged down by trivial matters. Set specific schedules for attending meetings or checking emails to avoid constant interruptions that fragment your day. Remember that every second wasted is an opportunity missed to move your business forward. Investing time in building relationships with colleagues and clients can yield incredible dividends. Engaging in meaningful conversations fosters loyalty and supportive work environments where everyone thrives.   Also read: SA CV Writing (2025 Winner: African Excellence Awards) – MEA Markets   Making Every Second Count In reflecting on the significance of each second in our daily lives, it becomes evident that time is not merely a passage but a canvas for growth, connection, and fulfilment. By intentionally dedicating our 86,400 seconds to pursuits that align with our values—be it professional ambitions, enriching personal experiences, or nurturing family relationships—we can create a life steeped in purpose. As you embark on this journey of mindful time management, take a moment to evaluate your current practices and consider how they contribute to your goals and well-being. Crafting a plan for intentional use of your time not only enhances personal growth but also strengthens the bonds with those around you. Share your aspirations with an inspiring individual to foster accountability and nurture an environment ripe for transformation. Ultimately, making every second count is about harnessing the potential within each moment to lead a more meaningful and connected life. Embrace this challenge, and watch as your seconds transform into lasting memories and achievements.   #PurposefulLiving #StayFocused #MakeEverySecondCount #timemanagement #86400secondsaday #cvwritingservicessouthafrica #cvwriting #cvwritingservice #sacvwriting  #professionalcvwritersinsouthafrica

Happy Father’s Day 2025: The Critical Role of a Father at Home and in Business

As we celebrate Father’s Day 2025, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on the profound influence that fathers have, not just within the walls of our homes but also in the broader sphere of business and community. Fathers play an extremely important role in shaping the values, character, and futures of their children. As Proverbs 20:7 beautifully reminds us, “The just man walketh in his integrity: His children are blessed after him.”, encapsulating the legacy that fathers leave behind—one of love, guidance, and moral fortitude.   The Unsung Heroes Billy Graham once said, “A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.”   Also read: https://www.latimes.com/socal/burbank-leader/tn-blr-me-intheory-advice-for-future-dads-20140610-story.html    This sentiment resonates deeply as we consider how often fathers go about their daily lives without recognition. From early morning breakfasts to late-night homework sessions, fathers, in their selfless dedication, are often the quiet architects of their children’s futures. They instil values that transcend generations. Hard work, resilience, empathy, and integrity. Think back to those moments when your child looks up at you with bright eyes and declares, “When I grow up, I want to be just like my daddy.” Those words carry immense weight; they signify trust and admiration. Each day presents fathers with the opportunity to embody those ideals that will not only shape but also transform their children’s character. It is a powerful responsibility that requires dedication and intentionality.   The Father’s Role at Home At home, a father’s role extends beyond mere provision; it encompasses emotional support and active participation in family life. Fathers are often seen as protectors and providers, but they are also teachers and nurturers. Whether it’s coaching a sports team or helping with school projects, fathers make significant contributions to their children’s development. Their emotional support and active participation in family life are crucial in shaping their children’s emotional intelligence and resilience. Moreover, studies show that children who have involved fathers tend to exhibit better social skills and higher academic performance. This involvement lays a foundation for healthy relationships, both within the family unit and in society as a whole. When children see their fathers engage with them lovingly and actively participate in their lives, they learn what it means to care for others deeply.   Fathers in Business: Leading by Example The influence of fathers stretches into the professional realm as well. Many successful business leaders credit their fathers for instilling in them the work ethic and determination needed to succeed. A father can serve as a mentor not only within the family but also in professional settings. The values learned at home often translate into business practices, i.e. integrity, accountability, and teamwork, all essential qualities for any successful endeavour. In many ways, a father’s approach to business reflects his parenting style. Just as he nurtures his children with patience and understanding, he also fosters a positive work environment for his employees. By leading by example, treating others with respect, and consistently showing up on time, a father cultivates trust and loyalty with his wife, children, and in the workplace.   Also read: https://sacvwriting.co.za/mothers-day-2025-to-the-supermoms-out-there-remarkable-capeless-heroes/   Honouring God-fearing Fathers Throughout scripture, and indeed throughout history, we see examples of both admirable and flawed fathers. These stories serve as reminders of the crucial role this plays within families and communities. As we honour our fathers this Father’s Day or remember those who have passed on, let us acknowledge this sacred calling to nurture our families with love and integrity. As you celebrate today with your loved ones, whether through heartfelt conversations or shared experiences, take a moment to appreciate the lessons learned from your father figure(s). Let us commit ourselves not only to honouring them but also to carrying forward their legacy by being present in our children’s lives. This Father’s Day serves as an invitation for all of us to reflect on the significant roles that fathers, and father figures of all kinds, play both at home and beyond. Let’s recognise these unsung heroes who shape our lives daily through their actions and values. Whether you’re a father, a stepfather, a grandfather, or someone who has been positively impacted by one, take time today to express gratitude or share stories that celebrate this vital role.   Happy Father’s Day!   #fathersday2025 #fathersareheroes #cvwritingservicessouthafrica #cvwriting #cvwritingservice #sacvwriting #professionalcvwritersinsouthafrica

Advice

4 Practical Tips for Mastering Your Voice Tone – The Role of Tone in Effective Communication

In both professional and personal settings, the way we communicate can significantly impact our relationships and outcomes. Voice tone often goes overlooked. Your tone (the quality or character of your voice) can convey emotions, intentions, and attitudes far beyond the words you choose. Understanding Voice Tone Voice tone encompasses not just what you say but also how you say it, but also elements such as pitch, volume, pace, and inflection. A warm and enthusiastic voice tone can foster connection and engagement, while a flat or dismissive tone may alienate your audience. This subtlety can make all the difference in effective communication. The Importance of Tone in Business In the corporate world, where clarity and professionalism are paramount, voice tone shapes perceptions. Consider the following scenarios: Client Interactions: An upbeat and confident tone can instil trust and reassurance when communicating with clients. Conversely, a curt or indifferent tone may lead to misunderstandings or dissatisfaction. Team Collaboration: Within teams, fostering an open dialogue is essential for innovation and productivity. A supportive tone of voice encourages team members to share ideas freely without fear of criticism. Feedback Delivery: Providing constructive feedback requires careful attention to tone. A gentle yet assertive approach can help employees receive feedback positively rather than defensively.   Also read: SA CV Writing is awarded as the most customer-focused CV Writing Agency 2024 – South Africa   The Impact of Voice Tone in Personal Life In personal relationships, the significance of voice tone cannot be overstated either: Conflict Resolution: In moments of disagreement, a calm and respectful tone of voice can be a powerful tool for de-escalation. It signals a willingness to understand and can pave the way for resolution. Expressing Affection: Whether with family or friends, using a warm and caring voice tone conveys love and support more effectively than mere words alone.  Active Listening: By engaging with others in a way that shows you value their thoughts and feelings, you can deepen your connections and enrich your relationships. 4 Practical Tips for Mastering Your Voice Tone Be Mindful: Practice self-awareness by paying attention to how your voice sounds during conversations. Adjust Accordingly: Adapt your voice tone based on your audience; what works in one context may not suit another. Seek Feedback: Encourage trusted colleagues or friends to provide insights into how your communication style affects them. Practice Empathy: Try understanding how others might perceive your message based on their emotional state; adjust accordingly to create rapport.   Also read: Are you a toxic employee?   Remember, your voice’s tone can inspire or discourage those around you. By speaking with sincerity and empathy and without looking down on anyone (no matter their position in life), you can foster better connections and achieve greater success in your personal and professional relationships. Mother’s Day 2025 – To the Supermoms Out There: Remarkable Capeless Heroes

It’s that time of year again. Mother’s Day. You either wake up to the delightful aroma of burnt toast and sticky syrup fingers on your coffee cup, or you find yourself wishing the calendar would magically skip right over this day. If you’re a working mother, chances are you’ve experienced both scenarios at least once (or, let’s be real, multiple times). Between juggling deadlines, spending quality time with your almost 16-year old and convincing your 5-year old that taking a bath everyday (even though according to them, they are not dirty), your life feels like a never-ending circus where you are not just the ringmaster but also the lion tamer, trapeze artist, and sometimes (in my case, most of the times) even the clown.   The Many Hats of a Working Mother Let’s take a moment to appreciate the sheer talent it takes to be a working mom. You’re not just an employee—you’re also a caregiver, entrepreneur, snack distributor (seriously, how do you always have goldfish crackers on hand?), and bedtime negotiator extraordinaire. Some days it feels like you’ve got it all together. You wear your “I can handle anything” t-shirt with confidence as you swoop in for that last-minute presentation while simultaneously locating your child’s missing shoe. Other days? Well, let’s just say that finding a pair of shorts that actually matches my toddler’s daily mood can feel like an Olympic event. But here’s the kicker: research shows that working mothers experience stress levels akin to those of skydivers without parachutes! Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but you get the point. If only there were awards for balancing boardroom strategies with bedtime stories! I mean, why not add “professional juggler” to our resumes?   Read more here: https://sacvwriting.co.za/working-mothers-we-salute-you/    The Importance of Support Coming from a corporate background, I can’t stress enough how vital it is for companies to recognise their employees as more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. When your workplace understands that you’re not only a professional woman but also a mother first and foremost, everything changes. Suddenly, those guilt trips for taking leave to nurse a sick child feel less like criminal offences and more like acts of self-preservation. Imagine this scenario: Your little one comes down with the sniffles. It’s heartbreaking enough without adding layers of workplace guilt on top. Wouldn’t it be nice if bosses could say, “Take care of your child; we’ll manage!”? Let’s dream big here!   What Makes It All Worth It Despite all the chaos and occasional meltdowns (both from you and your children), what makes this juggling act worthwhile? Spending precious time with my children when I’m not working brings me unparalleled joy. I find myself listening more intently during those bedtime stories, because let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to hear about the sun that is angry because it has gas? I laugh more at their silly antics and the weird and wonderful things they say (like trying to convince me that chocolate is actually a healthy food group), talk more about their dreams (and yes, they include being superheroes, dinosaurs and Godzillas), and truly savour these fleeting moments.   Read more here: SA CV Writing is awarded as the most customer-focused CV Writing Agency 2024 – South Africa   So here’s my shout-out to all working mothers around the globe: We see you! We appreciate every late-night work session followed by early-morning wake-ups. And to our supporters, husbands, family, friends, and colleagues who understand and help us navigate this challenging but rewarding journey, we couldn’t do it without you. You are worthy of celebration today and every day!   Happy Mother’s Day!   #mothersday2025 #mothersareheroes #cvwritingservicessouthafrica  #cvwriting #cvwritingservice #sacvwriting #professionalcvwritersinsouthafrica

Career Success – 4 Proven Strategies to Measuring Success on Your Terms

How do we define career success? Some people often find themselves caught in the whirlwind of comparing their careers to others. Your friends are landing their dream jobs while you feel stuck in a position that doesn’t excite you. It’s a familiar scene for many. But this constant evaluation, this comparison, it’s not healthy. It leads to discontent and stress, overshadowing personal achievements. It’s time for a change. Just imagine the liberating feeling of breaking free from the constant comparison. Social comparison can cloud judgment, making it hard to recognize your accomplishments. But remember, the journey to true career happiness is a personal one, not a race against others. It’s about focusing on your own goals and achievements, not those of your peers.   Read more here: SA CV Writing is awarded as the most customer-focused CV Writing Agency 2024 – South Africa   The Illusion of the “Perfect” Career Path Many believe a successful career follows a straight path, but the reality is different. Research shows that around 70% of workers change careers at least once, and the average person holds 12 jobs in their lifetime. Real success is about personal growth and finding paths that suit you. Social Media’s Role Social media paints an unrealistic picture of success. Carefully curated posts can show luxurious lifestyles and accelerated achievements, leaving many feeling inadequate. Influencers who seem to have it all figured out; their lives can appear perfect, but remember, it’s just a highlight reel and understanding this can be enlightening. The Danger of Comparison Studies show that constantly comparing yourself to others can lead to anxiety and unhappiness, and those who judge their success against peers often feel inadequate despite personal achievements that should be celebrated.   Here are 4 tips to assist you in measuring success on your terms:   Defining Your Career Success Metrics Identifying Your Values Start by figuring out what truly matters to you. What are your passions? What do you want to accomplish in your career? Spend some time answering these questions to clarify your unique goals. Here’s a quick exercise: List things you love doing. Note what makes you feel fulfilled. Identify your skills that stand out. Setting SMART Goals Once you’ve identified your values, turn them into goals using the SMART framework: Specific: Be clear about what you want. Measurable: Include numbers to track progress. Achievable: Ensure your goals are realistic. Relevant: Goals should align with your values. Time-bound: Set a deadline for achieving them. Creating a Personalized Success Roadmap Visualize your career journey. Draw a roadmap that highlights key milestones you want to achieve. Include significant accomplishments, skills you aim to develop, and experiences you want to gain. This roadmap will be a powerful reminder of your unique path.   Also read: Career Goals: 5 Tips To Keeping Up With Your New Year’s Resolutions   Celebrating Your Wins: Recognizing Your Achievements Keeping a Success Journal Keeping a journal can help you track your accomplishments. Write down every victory, no matter how small. Noticing your progress boosts confidence and promotes a positive mindset. Seeking Feedback and Mentorship Don’t underestimate the value of feedback. Regularly seek insights from colleagues or mentors. Their perspectives highlight strengths you might overlook and guide your development. Acknowledging Setbacks as Learning Opportunities Instead of viewing setbacks as failures, see them as valuable lessons. Overcoming challenges often leads to growth. Reflect on what you learned from difficult experiences to foster resilience.   Overcoming the Comparison Trap: Practical Strategies Mindful Social Media Consumption Empower yourself by setting limits on your social media use. Curate your feed wisely to protect your mental health and take control of your online experience. Building a Supportive Network Surround yourself with a community that uplifts you. Connect with peers who focus on mutual support and determination. Celebrating each other’s successes creates a positive and secure environment. Practicing Self-Compassion Be kind to yourself by acknowledging your feelings, but don’t let them define you. Empower yourself by focusing on your journey without harsh self-criticism. Remember, you are enough just as you are. This reassurance can help you build confidence and self-esteem.   Embracing Your Unique Career Journey Reframing Success It’s time to shift how we define success. Rather than adhering to society’s standards, reflect on what success looks like for you. This is what we mean by ‘reframing success.’ Each individual’s journey is distinct—embrace that uniqueness and define success in a way that aligns with your values and goals. Focusing on Personal Growth Continuous learning and personal development should be forefront of your career pursuits. Be open to new experiences and challenges that aid growth. Graduate CV Guide 2025 | Job Hunting After Graduation – Achieve Success with These 7 Tips

Congratulations on your graduation! Since the holidays are here, you might not be eager to jump into job hunting right away, and taking it easy feels more appealing. It’s also normal to feel daunted by the idea of searching for a job and writing your first graduate CV, especially with new responsibilities on the horizon. Remember to take a moment to breathe; feeling uncertain is perfectly okay.   Here are 7 simple tips to help you stay grounded: 1. First, improve your CV. Even if you lack experience, make sure your graduate CV stands out. Focus on your accomplishments. Employers appreciate candidates who present themselves well and are serious about their careers. If you need guidance, consider SA CV Writing for some professional help and guidance. Read more here: SA CV Writing is awarded as the most customer-focused CV Writing Agency 2024 – South Africa 2. Keep things simple. It’s unlikely you’ll land your dream job right away. Most graduates take on a few positions before finding the right one. Each job teaches you valuable skills that nobody can take away from you. Enjoy the process and learn along the way. 3. Put in the effort-it’s not easy. Getting noticed in the job market requires hard work. There’s a lot of competition, but remember, your dedication will pay off. Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint; each step you take brings you closer to your goal. 4. Build your brand. This means creating a professional online presence that reflects your skills, experiences, and career aspirations. Start by setting up a LinkedIn profile, a personal website or portfolio, and other social media platforms. Make sure these platforms are consistent in their messaging and design, as this will create a more impressive and trustworthy presence in the eyes of potential employers. Recruiters love LinkedIn for finding fresh talent, so it’s a great place to start. Also read: What is your WOW factor? 5. Patience is key. Most job hunters secure something within three months. If it takes longer, reassess. Research what employers are looking for in a candidate, understand the market, and make sure your skills align. A good strategy is crucial. 6. Attend industry events, workshops, and career fairs. Instructional interviews can also provide valuable insights and lead to job opportunities. For instance, connecting with someone at a conference led one graduate to an internship, which later turned into a full-time position. Many universities offer career services, including resume reviews and interview prep. Tap into your alumni network, which can provide valuable connections and advice. A career counsellor once mentioned, “Students often underestimate how helpful their university resources can be; take advantage of them.” Celebrate small victories. Acknowledge your progress, even if it seems minor. Celebrating small successes, such as securing an interview or completing a new skill course, keeps motivation high and helps maintain a positive mindset. 7. Enjoy the process. This phase can be exciting! Treat every interview as a learning opportunity. Each experience helps you grow, both personally and professionally. You’ll pick up skills that will serve you for years to come.   Take it one step at a time. You’ll be ready to tackle the job market with the right mindset and a solid CV Writing service like SA CV Writing to back you up. Gen Z in 2024 and Beyond – What is all the fuss about?

Most of us have seen funny memes and videos regarding the Gen Z generation and why they are seen as the worst hires. Known as the most entitled generation in history, let’s see what companies say about this phenomenon. According to Forbes, 45% of Hiring Managers say they are the worst to manage. One business owner described them as “the laziest generation. They don’t want to work. From absolutely not wanting to do more than what is in their job description to being fired and the individual’s daddy calling the boss to get their job back, this is an absolute nightmare.” Another well-known businesswoman states, “They are on social media all day. ” As one CEO stated, “You can’t build a legacy and be lazy simultaneously.” This might sound very harsh. However, not all individuals in the Gen Z generation are like this.   So, Who is the Gen Z Generation, and Why are They Being Vilified? Generation Z was born between the mid-1990s and early 2000s and is the first generation to have grown up in the digital age. They rely on and are committed to digital fluency, have an entrepreneurial mindset and are deeply committed to social justice and inclusion.   Also Read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Z   How Can We Overcome The Stigma Hanging Over These Young Employees’ Heads? Gen Z will account for 27% of the workforce by 2025, so excluding them will not be an option. They will bring both enthusiasm and significant challenges to the workplace.   Challenges Encountered By Employers When Integrating Gen Zers into Theri Current Workforce They have no respect for company policies. According to employers, this generation will always advocate for themselves, even at the expense of established rules and policies. Communication preferences. They favour digital communication platforms, which may create miscommunication between older generations who prefer older means of interaction. Career advancement and job security. With a strong desire for career growth and development, Gen Z easily becomes frustrated if they experience limited career development opportunities in the workplace. Mental health awareness. Mental health is a huge concern in modern work environments. Due to sedentary lifestyles and increased technology reliance, workers may also experience physical health issues. Immediate gratification vs perseverance. They are focused on career progression, and they want it now. Technology adaptation challenges and dependency. Gen Z’s reliance on technology can challenge adaptation to environments with limited technology or systems. Balancing Ambition with realistic expectations. Many Gen Z’s are ambitious individuals who set high goals for themselves.  The reality of entry-level positions and the time it takes to climb the corporate ladder can lead to frustration and disillusionment if not managed effectively. Desire for purpose-driven work. The company’s values must align with those of the organisation, not vice versa.   Also read: Career Goals: 5 Tips To Keeping Up With Your New Year’s Resolutions   What are the Pros of Including These Young People in the Workforce? Gen Z loves a good challenge. They also expect to be paid well for their ideas. They are not afraid to speak their minds. Be prepared to receive constructive and, most often, critical feedback regarding your brand.   Companies must realistically include this generation in their workforce. The Future of the CV and Resume

As someone deeply entrenched in the world of CVs and resumes for the past decade, I’ve often speculated about the future of these documents. With AI’s pervasive integration into our personal and professional lives, it’s hard to imagine it won’t leave its mark on these career essentials’ look, feel, and content. This is how the CV and resume might change in the near future:   Creativity. Embracing more creative means of showcasing one’s skills and personality on a CV or resume is not just a trend, it’s a powerful tool for job seekers. Recruiters and employers are moving away from the more traditional document and embracing the ‘newness’ and innovative way candidates display their personal brand. This shift opens up exciting opportunities for personal expression and empowerment in the job search process. Virtual and augmented reality may come into play in the hiring process and when creating a CV or resume.   Visit SA CV Writing’s services page to see what creative options we have available https://sacvwriting.co.za/services/   LinkedIn. LinkedIn, often referred to as a ‘virtual CV or resume’, is a powerful career tool many still underestimate. Since its creation in 2002, recruiters have turned to it to find their ideal candidates. Its potential is vast, and understanding its power can significantly enhance your career prospects. Using emojis as bullet points or reference points in your ABOUT SECTION is a great way to help people read through the text. It’s important to stand out on LinkedIn, so using your brand colours consistently is something you should definitely do. You can reinforce your brand colours by using emoji shapes that match those colours. LinkedIn absolutely takes networking to the next level!   Personality. Leverage technology and your creativity to stand out and show Recruiters and employers who you are.   Content. Although it is important to focus on your skills and achievements, future CVs and resumes will likely include more information about your interests, goals, and passions. Your CV or resume should evolve with the job market and align with the latest trends as a personal marketing tool. It’s crucial to stay updated in today’s competitive job market.   Embrace the changes and stay proactive! It might be time for a CV or resume makeover!

Patience is a virtue…even in your job search

It’s a few months into 2024, and you’ve joined the job search race. Let’s be honest. Finding a job is daunting, stressful, and downright exhausting. Not only that, you are also sending applications daily and just not getting positive results.   How long does it take to find a job?    You are probably one of those people who think that when they send out an application, it’s a given that you will be invited to an interview and ace the job within a couple of weeks, which can’t be farther from the truth. No wonder you are frustrated! According to FlexJobs, landing a new position takes about three to six months, with as many as 10 to 20 applications at any given time. You also need to be realistic and understand that there are some factors you need to consider before sending out applications. And yes, it will take some research and effort from your side.   Important points you need to consider.   1. Understanding the job market. The good news is that if you understand the current labour market and how to approach your job search as effectively as possible, you can increase your chances of securing your next role.   2. Are you qualified for the role? Do you have the qualifications the role requires, and are you open to continued personal and professional development? Companies want to know that candidates are eager to attain new skills that will make them an invaluable asset to future employers.   3. Are you the right fit for a company, and is the company the right fit for you? Only send out applications after doing some research on a company. This is a critical point that many applicants miss. Evaluate the company’s culture and history. Does the company align with your values, and do you align with theirs?   4. Is your CV/Resume and LinkedIn profile up to date? Another critical point that some people need help understanding when sending out applications is that your CV/Resume and Cover Letter must be personalised for each role, focusing on your achievements and qualifications.   5. LinkedIn. Update your LinkedIn profile regularly. Nothing frustrates a recruiter or an employer more than clicking on a candidate’s profile link and finding an incomplete profile.   Read again: https://sacvwriting.co.za/what-is-your-wow-factor/    The job search will be less stressful when you have some structure and a “formula” for applying for a new role.   Let the job search begin!

Got the New Year blues?

All of us have experienced the New Year’s blues at work at some point in our careers. Whether you are still at the office over the Christmas season or already basking in the summer sun, you can’t stop thinking about going back to work in the New Year. And face it, that would make anybody feel the grip of the blues. You might find it surprising that December is not only the most joyous but also the most stressful time of the year. This is understandable; deadlines must be met, and general exhaustion and burnout may contribute to the “blue” feeling. Before you feel defeated and run to hide under the bedcovers, you can follow a few tips to sidestep or significantly reduce those looming blues. 1. Set a clear list of your goals for the New Year Nothing beats the blues than knowing you are working towards a goal. Whether changing companies or contributing more to a looming project, setting clear personal objectives is a step in the right direction. 2. Get more sunlight! A survey conducted by Northwestern Medicine and the University of Illinois established that employees not only slept better, but those exposed to a reasonable amount of sunlight took 6.5% less sick leave than those indoors most of the day. What are you waiting for? Get some sun! 3. Exercise = productive and happy employees You know the saying, “Everything begins as a thought”. Thoughts influence how you feel and ultimately respond to someone or something. Staying active will give you less time to brood over your feelings and the stress you are experiencing. 4. Take it slow Rather than kicking the New Year off with a bang, start it slow. Focus on your goals, concentrate on one task at a time, and breathe! Nothing is more depressing than returning to work feeling miserable and unmotivated. Realise that more people feel like you do but that you can sidestep the New Year blues by focusing on your goals, health, and what you are grateful for.   Happy 2024!
